Tasks of the Committee

According to Article 29 of the executive regulations of the law on organizing universities, which is concerned with the council's work system

  • The Committee for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs shall be formed as follows:

The Graduate Studies and Research Affairs Committee is one of the governing committees emanating from the Faculty Board and is formed of the professors of the faculty by the Dean of the faculty according to the following rules:

  • Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs (Chairman)
  • Five faculty members.

The College of Graduate Studies and Research Affairs Committee in particular undertakes the following tasks

  • To prepare a plan for graduate studies and scientific research in the faculty based on the suggestions of the departmental councils and follow up on the implementation of this plan in the different departments.
  • To coordinate scientific research between the various departments of the faculty and work to stimulate joint research between them to cooperate in solving scientific problems.
  • To prepare the draft budget for scientific research in the faculty and distribute it according to the proposed programs. In addition to setting general systems for the way to dispose of its various items and working to provide the necessary capabilities to implement research programs.
  • To follow-up programs and systems for graduate studies and university degrees at the faculty to keep pace with scientific progress

The Postgraduate Studies and Research Affairs Committee undertakes the following tasks:

  1. To receive scientific problems from the different organizations and distribute them to the different departments of the college to carry out the necessary research to solve them.
  2. To supervise the affairs of scientific publishing in the faculty. In addition to collecting and publishing scientific researches of different departments, then distributing them to the relevant bodies and exchanging with scientific bodies and scientific individuals abroad and following up the implementation of the policy set in this regard.
  3. To examine and transfer the registration of graduate studies, manage transferring and excuses maters.
  4. To examine the suggestions of departmental boards regarding registration for master's and doctoral programs, and review the reports of supervisors to follow up researchers.

Tasks of the Postgraduate Studies Committee 

  • To participate in developing and reviewing the admission conditions for postgraduate studies
  • To coordinate with the faculty units in all relevant fields.
  • To review the introductory program for graduate students, and follow up on its implementation.
  • To review activities and developing the capabilities of the faculty in the field of scientific research.
  • To develop the research strategy and plan and setting mechanisms for its implementation in the faculty.
  • To follow up the needs of the departments, including researchers, professors, and teaching assistants in various specializations
  • To participate in discussing departmental decisions regarding the requests of (registration - suspension - supervision - governance committees - entrance examination) for postgraduate students and sent them to the faculty council for approval.
  • To approve the requests of postponement and apologies, stop the registration in accordance with the regulations and decisions issued in this regard for graduate students and send them to the Faculty Board for approval.
  • To discuss the relevant topics to postgraduate studies and scientific research.
  • To participate in the work of development projects and qualification for accreditation in the faculty.
