Under the auspices of Dr. Mostafa Mohamed Kamal, President of Assiut University, Dr. Yehiya Taha Qishk, Governor of Assiut, and Dr. Mohamed Saad Khalifa, Dean Faculty of Law, the University held a colloquium on the "Constitutional Issues of Communal Concern." This activity springs out of the University's interest in developing communal awareness of the importance of the constitution as a societal contract, in addition to encouraging all social spectra to participate in formulating their precepts of the constitutional articles, aiming to come up with a constitution that expresses and cares for the entire Egyptian people with its entire social gamut. The discussions included a number of the constitutional articles concerning issues such as: free education complying to quality standards, people with special needs and the State responsibility to sponsor them, the constitutional articles granting the Central Auditing Organization (CAO) the right of full vigilance on the expenditures of the Presidency, besides activating the roles of other vigilance bodies such as the (CAO), General Department of Public Fund, and Administrative Control. The colloquium was attended by Dr. Emad Hussein Counselor of the President of the Republic, Chancellor Edward Ghali, Rev. Safwat Al-Bayaadi, and Dr. Mohamed El-Beltagy, members of the founding committee for preparing the constitution draft.
