19 Malaysian Students Join the Faculty of Dentistry, Assiut University

For the first time in history, Assiut University receives the first delegation of 19 Malaysian students to study Dentistry, at the Assiut University Faculty of Dentistry having just commencing this academic year. The delegation is supervised by Dr. Razali Nawawi, President of the Quran Sciences Academy, Malaysia. Dr. Nawawi declared that this delegation is considered the first batch to be followed by a number of subsequent future batches to be sponsored by the Academy to study at Egyptian universities. On their part, the Malaysians students expressed their fascination by Assiut University, pointing out that the outstanding reputation of the University, especially in the Medical field was the reason that prompted them to decide to come over and join this university. Likewise, they showed a very positive reaction towards Egyptian students and the Egyptian revolution and wished that it will inspire a start of the unity and power the Islamic countries. Besides, Assiut University President, Prof. Mustafa Kamal, expressed his happiness with this unprecedented event for international students to come from developed countries such as Malaysia to study medicine at Assiut University. Prof Kamal emphasized that the University will save no effort to provide all possible means for comfortable academic climate, like the University normally does with other international students so that they become representative ambassadors of Assiut University in their countries. Prof Kamal added that this delegation is by all means considered an excellent start of the Egyptian-Malaysian cooperation in the field of education and cultural development. Dr. Nasser Shimi, the Academic Coordinator of the Dental Program indicated that this event reflects the good marketing and reputation of Assiut abroad. He also declared that the Dental Program at Assiut University, for the time being, relies on the Bylaw of the Dental Program in Cairo University. Insofar, Prof Shimi asserted that the university will provide all facilities to increase the number of international students.
