The President of Assiut University Inspects the Works of Laying Foundations and Piles for the New 2020 Project of University Hospital for Oncology

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, Acting President of Assiut University, announced the start of laying foundations and piles for the new 2020 project of University Hospital for Oncology, which is one of the important national projects being implemented to serve tens of thousands of oncology patients who frequent the Southern Egypt Institute of Oncology and the Department of Oncology and Nuclear Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine and Assiut University Hospitals. This came during his inspection of the work of pouring the first foundations for the project to establish the new 2020 university hospital and in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Helmy, engineering advisor of the University President; Mr. Shawkat Saber Thabet, Secretary General of the University; General Amjad Shoukry, Director of Special Group Projects; Dr. Yahya Abdel-Azim, project manager at the Engineering Consultation Center at Assiut University; Engineer Hamdi Awad, Project Manager of Gama Construction Company; and Engineer Mohamed Abdel Hadi, Project Manager of THE office for Engineering Consultations.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Minshawy explained that the project extends over an area of 15,000 square meters and is scheduled to be implemented in 3 gradual phases. It includes a major hospital that includes several specialized medical centers to treat different age groups of people with tumors, starting with outpatient clinics, children’s accommodations, and one-day treatment rooms for receiving chemotherapy, surgical operating rooms according to the latest medical systems, and specialized intensive care for children. 
The second medical center has been allocated for the treatment of adults, women and men. The third center works to provide a treatment service for patients, in addition to a research center according to international scientific systems to conduct studies and scientific research specialized in the field of diagnosis and treatment of tumors.
During the tour, the President of Assiut University pointed out the importance of accelerating the implementing of the project and overcoming any obstacles in order to open the first phase of it as soon as possible to achieve patients service and the desired goal of the project.
