Assuit University witnesses the launch of the Fourth Scientific Day of the pharmacists of Women Health Hospital

The Medical Finance and Pharmacy Administration of Women Health Hospital organized the events of the Fourth Scientific Day of the pharmacists of Women Health Hospital on Monday morning, the 17th of July on “Anticoagulant Protocol during Pregnancy, Postpartum and in Various Gynecological Diseases” under the auspices of Prof. Ahmed Al-Menshawi, President of Assuit University; and Prof. Alaa Attiya, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Head of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, and in the presence of Prof. Ahmed Abdel Moula, University Vice-President for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Mahmoud Abdel Alim, University Vice-President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Ehab Fawzy, Executive Director of University Hospitals; Prof. Ahmed Nasr, Head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department and Manager of Women Health Hospital; Dr. Abeer Abdel-Hady, Manager of Medical Finance and Pharmacy Administration of Women Health Hospital and General Supervisor of Clinical Pharmacy Units of University hospitals; and Prof. Momen Kamel, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology; and with the participation of a group of physicians and clinical and general pharmacists.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Menshawi, on his part, stressed that Assuit University pays great attention to woman’s health and supports the State’s efforts in this file through its university hospitals. The University Women Health Hospital provides the best medical and treatment service with international quality and standards, and spares no effort to support all comprehensive health services for women and facilitate access to them. In addition, it keeps up with the latest therapeutic methods and medication protocols for all gynecological diseases.

Prof. Ahmed Abdel Moula indicated the importance of the University Medical Sector, which represents an integrated example of fruitful cooperation with all sectors and the exchange of experiences and views in such a way as to benefit young physicians and pharmacists. He also indicated the close connection between the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Pharmacy as one entity which, in turn, has its effect on providing the best service and care for Upper Egyptian patients.

During this scientific meeting, Prof. Mahmoud Abdel-Alim gave a lecture about the use of anticoagulants during pregnancy to keep mother’s life. He also stressed the importance of early accurate medical examination and diagnosis to prevent the exposure of pregnant women to any vein thrombosis.

In the same context, Prof. Ehab Fawzy referred to the excellent medical system of University Hospitals and its integration through three main branches; i.e. medicine, pharmacy and nursing. He pointed out the role of clinical pharmacists whose crucial importance has emerged recently as they are highly educated and play a role in monitoring patients accurately and setting optimal dosage regimens for every patient.

Prof. Ahmed Nasr, on his turn, stressed the importance of today’s meeting as it includes a crucial scientific content that is important to the lives of a large number of women. He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the University Administration for providing full support and care of Women Health Hospital, and to the Medical Finance and Pharmacy Administration for its keenness on adopting various fruitful events that are beneficial to physicians and pharmacists.

Prof. Abeer Abdel Hady praised the attention that the hospital administration pays to the pharmacy sector, which enhances the quality of the services provided to patients, and provides the funding necessary to obtain different drugs and their alternatives. She indicated that the meeting represents a successful link in the chain of ongoing pharmacy education to keep abreast of all that is new in the pharmaceutical field. She also expressed her thanks to all physicians and pharmacists for their active participation in this meeting.

It is worth mentioning that the meeting involved a number of important lectures including a lecture by Prof. Ahmed Nasr, manager of Women Health Hospital, about anticoagulants during intracytoplasmic sperm injection and Ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome; a lecture by Prof. Momen Kamel, professor of gynecology, about the role of clinical pharmacists as a cornerstone in modern medical applications; a pharmacy by Dr. Rania Gamal, clinical pharmacist at Women Health Hospital, about the preventive and therapeutic anticoagulant protocol; and a lecture by Dr. Nagham Anwar, clinical pharmacist at Women Health Hospital, about the importance of solutions in preventing blood viscosity which causes thrombosis.
