about the importance of participating in the presidential elections
On Thursday, November 30, Assiut University witnessed the holding of two awareness 
seminars, as part of the series of seminars “For the sake of your country: Be positive 
and participate in the 2024 presidential elections,” which are organized by the Faculty 
of Law, for students of both faculties; Social service and specific education, under 
the patronage of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University.
This came under the supervision of: Dr. Ahmed Abdel Mawla, Vice President of the University 
for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Dawib Hussein Saber, Dean of the College of Law, 
and Legal Advisor to the President of the University, and Dr. Rajab Muhammad Al-Kahlawi, 
Professor and Head of the Department of Public Law at the College, and Vice Dean of 
the College for Education and Student Affairs.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Minshawy stressed the university’s keenness and support to consolidate positive 
participation in such an important event. Considering that participating in the voting process 
in the presidential elections is a duty and an inherent right for every citizen, and a real 
opportunity to enhance transparency and political legitimacy, calling on the university family 
to be an effective role model for society, in ensuring that the values ​​of national belonging 
and political awareness are strengthened; To complete the construction and development process.
The first symposium, at the College of Social Work, witnessed the presence of: 
Dr. Saudi Muhammad Hassan, Dean of the College, and Dr. Iman Abdel-Al Ahmed, Vice Dean of 
the College for Education and Student Affairs. The second symposium, at the College of 
Specific Education, witnessed the presence of; Dr. Wagdy Refaat, Dean of the College, and 
Dr. Yasmine Al-Kahky, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, with the participation 
of a group of faculty members, staff, and a group of students from both colleges.
For his part, Dr. Dwaib Saber called on young people not to give up their electoral right, 
and to participate in the constitutional entitlement for the presidential elections, in 
a positive and constructive manner, due to the importance and seriousness of the position 
of head of state, who has distinct legal powers, and to arbitrate between the legislative 
and executive authorities in the country, stressing their role. An important strategist in decision-making and nation building.
Dr. Rajab Kahlawi pointed out in his lecture during the events: To turn the attention of 
the whole world to the Egyptian presidential elections, and its electoral base of up to 
65 million voters, who will choose between 4 presidential candidates, sending a message 
to the youth; The importance of participating for a better future for the nation, and 
emphasizing the legitimacy of the elections and the next president, reviewing the most 
prominent presidential election procedures; By explaining who has the right to run for 
the presidency of the republic, and who has the right to cast a vote, in addition to how 
to know your electoral domicile and the possibility of changing it, through presenting 
the time stages of these elections, starting from the opening of nominations, until 
the announcement of the final result.
Dr. Saudi Muhammad Hassan praised; With the efforts of the university administration to 
support student activities and organize this series of important awareness seminars, he 
also thanked the Faculty of Law and its professors who took the initiative to raise 
awareness of this important constitutional entitlement, praising the youth’s positivity 
and confidence in their turnout at the ballot boxes, and their pride in the constitutional 
rights they enjoy, which is What must be shown to the whole world.
For her part, Dr. Yasmine Al-Kahky handed over the shield of the College of Specific 
Education and a certificate of appreciation to the Dean of the College of Law and its 
representative. In appreciation of the college’s role in the initiative on behalf of 
Assiut University to organize this series of seminars; Thus, it will be the first 
university to hold a series of seminars. To raise awareness of the importance of 
participating in elections.
